Pony Club Mount 12.2|HackneyXwelsh|GreyHorses - 405 Sheffield Rd, Montrose VIC 3765 -
12.2 | Mare | Grey | 12 year old | Hackney X Welsh
Holly is a delight to handle on the ground and is easy to trim feet, worm, do teeth, wash, clip, pick out hooves, tie up and other basic handling. She loves attention, catches herself and can be handled completely by competent children.
Holly is a big moving pony, with exceptional brakes and plenty of buttons. With a want to please, Holly would make a lovely second pony for a confident child. Holly loves to jump and has completed show jumping rounds and ODE’s at grade 5 (50cm) and grade 4 (65cm). Holly has a naturally round head carriage, and is easy to get on the bit. She is able to leg yield and lengthen her stride.
Holly did many years of lead rein at pony club and is a delight on the lead. She is respectful of her handler and patient with her onboard human. She’ll easily take her next human from lead rein to off lead.
Most recently Holly has been doing games with a teenager, where she has shown to be compliant and easy to handle. Still exhibiting her excellent brakes, while also completing the tasks at the riders desired speed. Holly is generally comfortable with horses coming at her at pass. She rarely spooks, can carry items while riding, place items on drums and cones and easy mount and dismount.
Holly is a pony, and with a pony does come some down sides. Holly will not stay in electric fencing that isn’t hot. Holly can decide to walk home when she’s tired - easily corrected by the rider. We recommend that Holly goes to an experience horse home or a home receiving regular lessons, as she can learn bad habits if not corrected early. Holly is a typical pony that does take advantage of situations, therefore, I recommend that Holly is purchased for a capable rider, who is not scared to show Holly who is the boss. Absolutely no dirt, just typical pony behaviours that are simply corrected if done effectively.
Holly can at times be sensitive to pain, she exhibits early signs, and is usually related to her hooves being to long. This is easily managed by keeping holly on a strict 6-8 week trimming cycle.
Holly in our eyes is an absolute gem and would be a very welcomed addition to most families.
Genuinely for sale, as the current rider is over 5’6, Holly is just a touch too small. We welcome genuine enquiries to view Holly now. Please call, if no answer leave a message or send a text. 0438 702 904.
Holly would be suited as a lead rein mount, especially building a bond for her rider to take the next step off lead, as a second pony for a child ready to step up and be competitive or as a games pony. Holly has a heart of gold and we would love to see her with a family looking for a pony for several years, or a forever pony.
Priced at $4,500.00 tack not included.
